Tassos is an experienced property investment professional with 23 years of experience in the fields of property investment and management.

He is the founder and managing director of 8G Capital Partners Ltd, a private equity real estate firm set up in Sep 2007 with principal and advisory activities. Through offices in London, Nicosia and Hong Kong, 8GCP acts as an advisor to institutional investors, banks, property companies, governments and family offices. Based on the core notion of ‘Putting Real Estate to Work’, 8GCP offers asset management and workout services, financial and transaction advisory as well as loan resolution advisory. Over the last four years, 8GCP has been working closely with banks in Greece, Cyprus and the Middle East, managing portfolios of repossessed properties and advising on collateral management and debt-to-asset swaps.

In Nov 2004, he moved as a team of four to found the European arm of HSBC Property Investments, the principal property investment arm of the HSBC Group, in London. As a director he reported to the head of property and helped to set up the European (non-UK) investment platform from scratch and build a portfolio in excess of Euro 900M. The portfolio was focused on retail assets in Europe and featured the largest single-asset property transaction in Greece. His duties encompassed operations, business strategy & planning as well as fund management (origination, closing and management of transactions) with responsibility for south and eastern Europe.

Between May 99-Oct-04, Tassos was a fund manager with PRICOA Property Investment Managers, the European subsidiary of Pramerica Real Estate Investor), co-managing a USD 1B single client account which focused on value-add opportunities in south, central and eastern Europe (SCEE). As one of the first-movers in the region, he concluded among others the first cross-border portfolio acquisition in CE. He originally joined as member of the research team (underwriting, strategy formulation, new market studies) but was soon promoted to asset management (Europe non-UK) and then to transactions, specializing in SCEE. In 2001 he was named as ‘Employee of the Year’.

Prior to PRICOA, Tassos was a manager at Investment Property Databank (Nov 97-May 99) responsible for performance analysis & benchmarking and bespoke property research to property companies with a total value of £1B. Other work experience includes Henderson Global Investors (Tassos was one of the original members of the European property research team) and a leading property valuation firm in Cyprus.

He is a regular speaker at conferences in Europe and Asia and a contributor to the financial press on matters related to real estate markets and investment.

As of Oct 2016, Tassos was elected as the National Council chair for Greece and Cyprus of the Urban Land Institute.

Tassos holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics & Accounting from the University of Bristol and an MSc in Land Management from the University of Reading. He has earned a number of investment management qualifications including ASIP (formerly AIMR) – winning the Mercury Asset Management Prize for Portfolio Management and Certified EFFAS analyst. He is a CFA charter holder and a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS). He is an APC assessor for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He speaks Greek, English, Spanish and Russian.

Professional memberships include the ULI, UKSIP (now CFA Institute of the UK, having served as a panel member for the IMC exam), and in the past the Investment Property Forum and the Society of Property Researchers where he served as a committee member Tassos is married with four children. His hobbies include flying (Commercial Pilot’s License- Airplanes), martial arts (karate2nd Dan, kick boxing), music (violin, former member of the Cyprus Youth Orchestra), exploring modernist cuisine and reading science.
